Convention Policies

Registration / Refund Policies

  • Registration badges are required for entry into all PopCult Anime Con events. Badges must be worn at our event and visible to convention staff at all times. Registration badges are non-transferable and non-replaceable.
  • Minors of 13 years or below MUST be accompanied by a guardian of 18 years or older at all times while attending the convention. Pre-Registration badges for children must be linked to a pre-registered adult or the badge will be refunded. Linked minors and guardians must be together in order to pick up pre-registration badges. Children 6 years of age or younger are welcome at PopCult Anime Con for free (but must still be accompanied by an 18+ guardian!)
  • Friday Night Bonus Content, sometimes referred to as Day Zero is special programming for Pre-Registered Full Weekend attendees ONLY. This additional content is provided as a thank you/incentive for our most valuable attendees.
  • Pre-Registered Day Pass pick up and all types of At-Door Registration are unavailable on Day Zero.
  • Pre-Registration pick up and At-Door Registration must be done during scheduled Registration Hours. Please check convention schedule (TBA) prior to event for open hours.
  • Refunds for 2025 Pre-Registrations will be available up to 45 days prior to PopCult Anime Con. Requests for refunds made less than 45 days before the con will not be accepted. Refunds will not include payment processing fees. At-door registrations are non-refundable.
  • By registering for PopCult Anime Con you agree to follow all convention and hotel codes & policies. Failure to comply may result in having badges revoked or persons ejected from the event/hotel. PopCult Anime Con reserves the right to deny entry to any individual at any time at our discretion.
  • Questions and concerns can be submitted online via our Contact form or to the webmaster directly at webmaster.popcultanime@gmail.com

Code of Conduct / Harassment Policy

  • Attendees agree to follow the instructions of PopCult Anime Con staff and security.
  • Respect the hotel staff and shared hotel space (like hallways, restaurants and pool areas.)
  • Please keep disruptive behavior to a minimum and be considerate of fellow attendees and hotel guests. Repeat offenses of running, noise, making a mess, defacing property etc. will be noticed by security and may result in ejection from PopCult Anime Con.
  • The rules of the real world still apply at PCAC! Please follow all federal, state and local laws including but not limited to legal drinking/smoking age/areas, drug use, theft, assault and harassment. Failure to comply will result in immediate penalty, ranging from a verbal warning to calling the police and being kicked out of the con, depending on the severity or reoccurrence of the offense.
  • A little louder for the people in the back: Cosplay is not consent and harassment of any kind is inappropriate. PopCult Anime Con aims to be a safe space while also catering to a broad variety of people. Bullying, gender/race/identity discrimination, unwanted sexual advances, stalking and heckling are examples of harassment we do not accept at our event(s).
  • If you are ever made to feel unsafe at PopCult Anime Con, please talk to a staff member immediately or visit the Operation Hammond volunteer table. Incident reports made prior to or after the convention are unfortunately out of PCAC Security staff’s hands, so please please seek help at the convention if you need it!
  • Questions and concerns can be directed to any staff member, identifiable by their Staff Tees and located around the hotel at regular Security Checkpoints.

Dress Code / Weapons Policy

  • Your outfit should only expose what is considered appropriate at a pool or beach. A bikini or swim trunks, for example. Please refrain from wearing otherwise offensive outfits, slogans and symbols as this is a family event. Convention staff reserves the right to request outfit changes if attire is deemed inappropriate.
  • Footwear must be worn at all times. Our definition of ‘footwear’ is that you must have a pad between the bottom of your foot and the floor. To enter the hotel restaurant/Starbucks, you may require a shoe with more coverage. Heelies, skates, skateboards or scooters should not be used inside the hotel in the interest of safety for yourself and fellow attendees.
  • Medical scooters and other wheeled assistive devices are welcome. Please respect the physical space of mobility device users and refrain from cutting in front of or touching devices without permission.
  • Seal your body paint, if using it. Please be extremely considerate of the hotel, fellow cosplayers and the convention space while in your paint.
  • Absolutely no live steel props.
  • No projectile weapons unless non-functional. Includes Airsoft, BB guns, dart guns, etc.
  • Prop guns must have an orange tip that is clearly identifiable.
  • Prop weapons made of foam, wood, Worbla, plastic, etc. are acceptable, but must be checked by Con Security.
  • PCAC Staff reserves the right to deny clearance of any prop or weapon considered unsafe at our event.
  • If you are concerned about your cosplay or prop(s) please contact popcultmasquerade@gmail.com before the event.

Covid Safety Policy

  • PopCult Anime Con will NOT be requiring proof of vaccination or mandatory masking at PCAC25.
  • Masks are still strongly encouraged, especially if you have been around someone ill or have any health-related immunity concerns. We ask that you please consider not attending if you are feeling ill on PCAC weekend.
  • We embrace the culture of masking as a courtesy, as practiced in anime’s home nation of Japan. As such, many PCAC staff volunteers will likely be masking at PCAC25 and free disposable masks will still be available at Registration and Info Desk.
  • Harassment of attendees over their decisions to wear a mask (or not) falls under our Code of Conduct/Harassment Policies and will be dealt with accordingly.
  • And as always, please wash your hands!

What Are People Saying About PopCult Anime Con?

One of my Favorite Cons!

December 1, 2024

This con has come such a long way from its early days, it’s so based in community and brining joy and uplifting to its attendees. Every staff member I interact with is always so helpful, the offerings of panels and events during the con is so accessible and fun. It’s basically everything you’d want from a small community con in a growing atmosphere. Couldn’t recommend it more! Give it a try!

PopCult was the convention that made me love conventions!

December 1, 2024

I used to dislike conventions, but PopCult was my first anime convention back in 2022 (I went for a friends birthday), and the kind staff and fun events made me absolutely love conventions instead! The attendees are always so kind, and there’s always something fresh and exciting to do there each year! I plan to come back for many, many years!

one of my top fav cons!

January 12, 2025

This is the best convention for beginners! I started going in 2022 and will continue every year! The people and staff are always so sweet and like a huge family

Akira

An amazing convention with wonderful staff and friends

December 11, 2024

I personally love these smaller conventions, and with it being my first time at Popcult, it had such a great atmosphere to it. I was lucky enough to be the MC for the masquerade, and getting to work with the stage and tech staff was a great experience. The staff is great to be around, and it’s actually very easy to make friends at the con, and you will probably see them at other cons as well. Go for the entire weekend of a great end of summer convention!
