Meet Local Legends: Matt Myers & Rolind the Traveler

June 23, 2023

We’re celebrating the first week of summer with guest announcements! Last time we focused on education and panel programming, this time it’s entertainers and dances!

PopCult Anime Con is thrilled to announce Local Legend Matt Myers of LeetStreet Boys, LeetMusic and HitherYon Games as our musical guest for 2023! A former Waltham resident, Matt is most well-known as the singer/songwriter of anime band LeetStreet Boys whose debut single “Yuri The Only One” was released in 2008. Happy 15th Anniversary! To celebrate, Matt will be sharing stories of his time with the band and what he’s been up to since as both a video game composer & developer. There will also be a short solo performance of some of LeetStreet Boy’s greatest hits during the Masquerade! WEBSITE / YOUTUBE / BANDCAMP

It’s also our deepest pleasure to announce the Rolind the Traveler as official convention House Deejay Bard for PCAC23! Rolind is a multi-talented musician, vendor and entertainer at King Richard’s Faire in Carver, MA. Lately he’s been gathering a following of fellow adventurers on TikTok, where he tells tales of his journeys in hopes of spreading positivity, love and happiness to those who need it. Rolind will be hosting our dances this year, and may be found around the convention playing music, doing magic tricks and spreading cheer to attendees! TIKTOK / INSTAGRAM

Matt and Rolind have come together to help us with a new themed dance to help Transport You All to a World of Wonder and Music. Our Sunday Evening Closing Ceremonies dance this year will be a Semiformal, with live piano music by Matt Myers and ocarina accompaniment from Rolind the Traveler. Anime, game and modern prom classics will round out the evening’s playlist. Fancy dress is encouraged but will not be necessary to attend. Find more info on this and our other dances on our Themed Dances page, updating soon!

Learn more about Matt Myers, Rolind the Traveler and all our Local Legends on our Guests page. Next announcement will be on Monday!

What Are People Saying About PopCult Anime Con?

One of my Favorite Cons!

December 1, 2024

This con has come such a long way from its early days, it’s so based in community and brining joy and uplifting to its attendees. Every staff member I interact with is always so helpful, the offerings of panels and events during the con is so accessible and fun. It’s basically everything you’d want from a small community con in a growing atmosphere. Couldn’t recommend it more! Give it a try!

PopCult was the convention that made me love conventions!

December 1, 2024

I used to dislike conventions, but PopCult was my first anime convention back in 2022 (I went for a friends birthday), and the kind staff and fun events made me absolutely love conventions instead! The attendees are always so kind, and there’s always something fresh and exciting to do there each year! I plan to come back for many, many years!

Grace

one of my top fav cons!

January 12, 2025

This is the best convention for beginners! I started going in 2022 and will continue every year! The people and staff are always so sweet and like a huge family

Akira

An amazing convention with wonderful staff and friends

December 11, 2024

I personally love these smaller conventions, and with it being my first time at Popcult, it had such a great atmosphere to it. I was lucky enough to be the MC for the masquerade, and getting to work with the stage and tech staff was a great experience. The staff is great to be around, and it’s actually very easy to make friends at the con, and you will probably see them at other cons as well. Go for the entire weekend of a great end of summer convention!
