What is Isekai? It’s a subgenre of anime and fantasy fiction where the hero(es) are displaced from home and transported to another world. There they must learn about a whole new land while surviving in strange conditions, ultimately to discover why they are there and how to get home! Some popular examples of Isekai in Anime and Western media include InuYasha, Digimon, Fushigi Yuugi, Kingdom Hearts, The Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland, and The Chronicles of Narnia. In fact, when you stop to think about it Isekai is everywhere!
