🍍 Hello Artists, and thank you for your interest in PopCult Anime Con! 🍍
Artist tables are 6’x2.5′ and include one full-weekend convention badge for $125. Additional convention badges will be available to purchase at a discounted rate upon acceptance. There will be set-up time available on both Friday night and Saturday morning before the Exhibitor Hall opens to the public. PCAC performs a jury for artists applications due to our small size and the incredibly high amount of talented artists we are so lucky to have sign up each year!
🍍 Things We Look for in an Artist Application 🍍
*Artist is at least 18 years of age and able to provide a Massachusetts Sales Tax ID number.
*A mix of both fan and original artwork.
*Representation from both anime and popular culture fandom/styles.
*A little something special or unusual in their sales portfolio.
This year’s application window will be from March 1st to March 24th, with jurying to follow in the first weeks of April. Applicants will be sorted into a series of categories the staff feel match the overall work seen in each portfolio. Artists who surpass the above criteria will be offered the first wave of tables, while those who met the criteria will be placed on a waiting list in the order in which they applied. Waitlisted applicants will be accepted into the alley as tables become available on a first-come/first-served basis (so sign up early for the best chance there.) Applicants who do not meet the criteria will be informed that they are not on the waiting list and encouraged to try again next year.
🍍 Important – Artists vs Vendors 🍍
Can artists sign up as vendors? Many and more try each year! If your art business has taken off in a way that makes you genuinely competitive with other vendors, there’s a chance you’ll be accepted as a vendor at PCAC. However if the exhibitor staff feels your work is best fit alongside fellow artisans, the vendor application will be declined and you’ll be directed back here to artist sign ups (which might even be closed by then yikes!) This is not a critique on anyone’s art or about how much money anyone is making. Honestly, it’s about keeping things as fair as possible, so no one tries to get around the competitive jury by throwing in a little more money and signing up as a vendor. That’s not only unfair to all the artists in the jury, but it takes booths away from mercantile vendors who also want to be at PCAC.
🍍 Important – Basic Rules & Cancellation/Refund Policy 🍍
Please fill out your AA applications completely before sending them in, as they will not be able to be modified afterward. Exhibitors must be 18 years or older to apply and a Massachusetts Sales Tax ID is required. (For more info go to mass.gov!) While artists are encouraged to bring assistants, please understand that the actual artist of the works on each table must be in attendance at the convention and not simply sending others to sell their work. Please be aware that a Covid-19 Safety Policy has not been confirmed for PCAC24 at this time. Payment will be expected at time of acceptance. Any artist who declines or needs to cancel before the convention will forfeit their table to an artist on the waitlist. Exhibitors may cancel their table for a full refund up to 45 days before the convention. Exhibitors may still cancel their table within 30 days of the convention with the potential for a partial refund, decided on a case by case basis. And finally, any artist who fails to provide a MA Tax ID prior to 30 days of the convention forfeits their table by default, no refunds or exceptions.
🍍 Important – Exhibitor Code of Conduct 🍍
Please be sure that your intended table dressings will fit within your space and are sturdy, especially if utilizing PVC pipelines. No table display should be higher than 6’ from the floor. Exhibitor Staff reserves the right to order takedown of displays deemed dangerous or unruly at the convention. Artists are expected to have legitimately created their own artwork, no use of AI or selling for another artist not accepted via jury. Artists may sell adult material at PCAC but must check customer IDs before allowing them to browse 18+ content and provide opaque bagging for 18+ sales. Artists should refrain from leaving their tables unattended during open hours. The convention hotel’s food policy prevents us from allowing exhibitors to sell or give away food items. Attendees are prohibited from bringing food into the Exhibitor Hall, but artists may eat and drink at their tables. Exhibitors are expected to vacate the room in a timely fashion so that the room can be locked afterhours. PopCult Anime Con is not responsible for the personal safety or belongings or merchandise of exhibitors. A more detailed version of these points will be sent to accepted artists closer to the convention, along with table assignments, hours and check-in information.
