Meet Our Mascots!

Summer the Mermaid

Summer is the leader of the Isles of Fandom and the proud face of PopCult Anime Con! She’s a marine biologist, anime fan, cosplay model, and a wheelchair user. From starfish to the vast night sky, she loves the shape of stars and has made it her motif. Rumor has it, if you take a late night walk on the beach over PopCult Anime Con weekend, you just might encounter a mermaid in the water who looks just like Summer!

Super Guard

Super G is lifeguard of Fandom Beach and Summer’s best friend. He’s a star athlete, competitive gamer, merch collector, and human rights activist. Voted the Isles of Fandom’s Biggest Nerd for five years running, he prefers to wear geek apparel on the daily. On PopCult Anime Con weekend, you’ll find Super G and his fellow lifeguard crew ready to chat fandom and help keep the peace from their table stations!

Segall the Seagull

Segall is the Scourge of the Isles of Fandom, the Terror of PopCult Anime Con… and Summer’s cuddly pet seagull so please don’t tell her about those other things! He likes stealing food, “borrowing” accessories, photobombing cosplayers, and picking up lost registration badges. If you’re experiencing some drama at PopCult Anime Con, look up – the culprit might just be sneaky Segall!

Squishy the Jellyfish

Squishy the Jellyfish is a small business owner and professional mixologist at the PopCult Beach Bar! She’s a major foodie, talented artist, lover of fanfiction, and proudly sapphic. With a heart as big as the ocean she lives for helping out fellow Islanders, especially her beloved Summer-senpai. On PopCult Anime Con weekend there’s no wilder party than Squishy’s, where the music’s always banging and the refreshments are delicious!

Prince Wacky of the Vinyl Isles

Wacky the Inflatable Arm-Flailing Tube Person emerges majestically from a ball pit. A sign around their neck reads "Pool Party" with a directional arrow pointing to their left. An 80s style boombox and a large beach ball sit among the multicolored balls.

Wacky mysteriously floated to the Isle of Fandom and was pulled out of the water by Super G. After going on an Isekai adventure, it came to light that our inflatable flailing tubefriend was actually a Prince of the Vinyl Isle chased away by their power-hungry younger brother! Wacky prefers dancing, meeting new people, retro media and hanging out in ball pits too much to be a proper leader, but they are trying.

Exie the Exhibitor

Exie the Exhibitor is a plush squid brought to life by the power of kawaii artists on too little sleep!!! The road to a successful mercantile career may be tough for this ex-squid but beneath their quiet ex-terior burns a passionate determination. That’s right, Exie has a dream to bring happiness to the people of the Isles with specialty curated products in ex-change for hard cash! Dream big little plushie!

What Are People Saying About PopCult Anime Con?

One of my Favorite Cons!

December 1, 2024

This con has come such a long way from its early days, it’s so based in community and brining joy and uplifting to its attendees. Every staff member I interact with is always so helpful, the offerings of panels and events during the con is so accessible and fun. It’s basically everything you’d want from a small community con in a growing atmosphere. Couldn’t recommend it more! Give it a try!

Bee

PopCult was the convention that made me love conventions!

December 1, 2024

I used to dislike conventions, but PopCult was my first anime convention back in 2022 (I went for a friends birthday), and the kind staff and fun events made me absolutely love conventions instead! The attendees are always so kind, and there’s always something fresh and exciting to do there each year! I plan to come back for many, many years!

Grace

one of my top fav cons!

January 12, 2025

This is the best convention for beginners! I started going in 2022 and will continue every year! The people and staff are always so sweet and like a huge family

Akira

An amazing convention with wonderful staff and friends

December 11, 2024

I personally love these smaller conventions, and with it being my first time at Popcult, it had such a great atmosphere to it. I was lucky enough to be the MC for the masquerade, and getting to work with the stage and tech staff was a great experience. The staff is great to be around, and it’s actually very easy to make friends at the con, and you will probably see them at other cons as well. Go for the entire weekend of a great end of summer convention!
